Hello my name is Nitara Brooks! I am an up and coming graphic designer, currently studying at Appalachian State University to get a BFA in graphic design. I enjoy expressing my creativity in the form of creating work that is helpful and satisfying to others.
I view graphic design as a way of making art that makes other happy or pushes them forward. I find it hard to produce personal content, and this way, I can still create work I am satisfied with. When making work for others there is an extra push to finish it and finish it well.
I like the way graphic design leads me to question every decision I make. Whenever I add or take away an element I need to ask why and what is it doing for the piece. This line of thinking gives purpose to what I do and improves the way I think and make decisions.
In the past I was a person who despised anything digital and much preferred traditional media. After taking a leap to join the graphic design program, I’ve grown to love it more and more. Like others, I initially wanted a career in art that had a more promising income. As I learn more about design and what it means to do so, it’s become more of a calling than a necessity. I hope to do well in this career path and create lots of impactful work.
